Diesel Mechanic

Utilize expertise in diagnostics, repairs and preventative maintenance on both Diesel and Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) vehicles in an effort to maintain GFL’s fleet in safe and continuous “road ready” condition.

 

Starting Pay: $25 to $34 per hour. More pay available based on experience, certifications and skill level.

Evening Shift: 3PM–3AM M-F. Immediate overtime after 40hrs worked!

Has to be open to rotating Saturday Day Shift at shop. 11am-5pm.

Responsibilities:
-Perform daily inspections, diagnose issues, troubleshoot problems, and complete repairs on Diesel Refuse Trucks.
-Repair and troubleshoot hydraulic systems, electrical systems, brakes, suspension, PTO systems, and other truck components.
-Diagnose and repair mechanical issues to keep Refuse Trucks operating safely and reliably.
-Perform preventative maintenance and complete repairs to ensure fleet vehicles are ready for daily operation.

Requirements:

•High school diploma or general education degree (GED); technical diploma desired.

•Minimum of one (1) year experience as a diesel mechanic

•Experience using diagnostic software a plus

•Must be computer literate, have the ability to be trained on software systems and the willingness to learn.

• Must be able to meet relevant criteria for safety sensitive functions according to Company standards Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

•Ability to communicate effectively with others.

•Demonstrate ability to follow detailed instructions, work independently and maintain accurate records.

•Ability to understand and effectively use repair and parts manuals written in English.

•Ability to operate any vehicle or equipment necessary to perform job.

•Possess physical ability to perform all aspects of job.
