Medical Surgical Registered Nurse – Full-Time Weekender, Day Shift (Friday–Sunday, 6:30 AM–7:00 PM)

Key Responsibilities

• Utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, document, and evaluate individualized patient care for Med/Surg and EICU patients throughout hospitalization
• Initiate, develop, and document patient plans of care based on assessment and medical diagnosis, setting priorities for nursing action in accordance with departmental expectations
• Administer medications proficiently, including IV therapy, and monitor for adverse reactions or significant condition changes, notifying the provider in a timely manner
• Acknowledge and follow through on physician orders via the electronic medical record (EMR), delegating appropriately to other health team members
• Respond to life-threatening situations in accordance with nursing standards, policies, procedures, and protocols
• Initiate patient and family education plans and discharge planning based on individualized needs, maintaining a safe environment and applying universal precautions and infection control procedures

Required Qualifications

• Two-year degree in nursing required; BSN preferred
• Active Wisconsin Registered Nurse (RN) license required
• BLS certification required (or obtained within 1 month of start)
• ACLS certification required (or obtained within 6 months of start)
• Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail required
• Intermediate or higher computer proficiency required

Preferred Experience / Skills

• PALS certification encouraged
• Experience caring for Med/Surg and/or EICU patient populations
• Strong de-escalation, interpersonal communication, and problem-solving skills
• Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment
