  • Perform accurate quantity takeoffs for acoustical ceiling systems, specialty ceiling products, and other commercial interior applications.
  • Prepare detailed estimates incorporating materials, labor, equipment, subcontractor costs, and project-specific requirements.
  • Analyze project specifications to identify potential challenges, discrepancies, and opportunities for cost savings.
  • Solicit and evaluate pricing from vendors, manufacturers, and suppliers.
  • Prepare competitive bid proposals that align with company standards and profitability goals.
  • Manage multiple estimates and bid deadlines simultaneously.

Project Coordination & Communication

  • Collaborate with project managers and company leadership to review estimates, project scopes, and bid strategies.
  • Communicate with general contractors, architects, suppliers, and other construction professionals regarding project specifications and pricing.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings and conduct jobsite visits when necessary.
  • Identify scope gaps, exclusions, and potential change-order opportunities.
  • Assist with project handoffs following successful bids to ensure accurate transfer of estimating information.
  • Maintain organized estimating records, bid documentation, and project correspondence.

Cost Analysis & Project Support

  • Monitor material pricing, labor rates, and industry trends to maintain competitive estimates.
  • Review historical project costs and completed job performance to improve future estimating accuracy.
  • Assist in evaluating value-engineering opportunities and alternative materials.
  • Support the preparation of change-order estimates as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Previous experience in commercial construction estimating, preferably within acoustical ceilings, drywall, metal framing, or specialty interior construction.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural blueprints, construction drawings, and technical specifications.
  • Understanding of construction materials, labor requirements, and installation processes.
  • Experience performing material quantity takeoffs and developing detailed project estimates.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and general computer applications.
  • Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects and consistently meet bid deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience estimating acoustical ceiling systems, including suspended grid systems, ceiling panels, specialty ceilings, and related architectural products.
  • Familiarity with commercial interior construction and CSI Division 09 specifications.
  • Experience with construction estimating and digital takeoff software such as Bluebeam Revu, On-Screen Takeoff, PlanSwift, or comparable platforms.
  • Knowledge of construction bidding practices and general contractor requirements in the Pacific Northwest.
  • Established relationships with commercial construction suppliers, general contractors, or industry professionals.
  • Experience working for a specialty subcontractor.
  • Background in project coordination or construction project management.

Candidates with estimating experience in related commercial construction trades, including drywall, metal framing, flooring, glazing, and architectural specialties, are encouraged to apply.

Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will be someone who:

  • Takes pride in preparing accurate, thorough, and competitive estimates.
  • Can work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
  • Understands the importance of meeting deadlines in a fast-paced construction environment.
  • Demonstrates strong initiative, accountability, and professional judgment.
  • Is comfortable communicating with contractors, suppliers, and internal project teams.
