This role provides hands-on support for industrial cleaning and maintenance projects across multiple client sites in Athens, TN and surrounding areas. You will perform physically demanding general labor in hot, dirty, and mostly outdoor environments, helping clean tanks, industrial equipment, and facility grounds using hand tools and specialized industrial equipment. This is a heavy-duty position that requires reliability, a strong work ethic, and a willingness to learn and follow instructions while working safely in industrial settings.

Responsibilities

  • Perform manual labor to support industrial cleaning and maintenance projects at multiple client locations.
  • Clean tanks, industrial equipment, and facility grounds using appropriate tools and equipment.
  • Operate and use hand tools, shovels, pressure washers, power tools, and large industrial vacuum systems as directed.
  • Assist with site cleanup before, during, and after projects to maintain a safe and organized work area.
  • Carry out general production and construction-related tasks such as stacking materials, lifting boxes, sweeping, groundskeeping, and painting as needed.
  • Work safely in and around heavy industrial environments, following all safety guidelines and procedures.
  • Listen carefully to and follow instructions from supervisors and site leads, asking questions when clarification is needed.
  • Travel to and work at multiple client sites, adjusting to different facility requirements and conditions.
  • Maintain job site cleanliness and organization throughout each project.
  • Support extended and overtime shifts, including early mornings and occasional night or weekend work when projects require it.

Essential Skills

  • Willingness to perform hard, physical labor in hot, dirty, and challenging outdoor environments.
  • Dependable attendance and punctuality, with a strong commitment to showing up every day as scheduled.
  • Ability to listen, follow instructions, and learn on the job in fast-paced industrial settings.
  • Comfort working around heavy industrial equipment, industrial noise, and rugged terrain.
  • Capability to perform tasks such as lifting boxes, stacking materials, sweeping, and general groundskeeping.
  • Experience or comfort using hand tools, power tools, shovels, and pressure washing equipment.
  • Flexibility to work varying first-shift hours based on customer needs (e.g., 7:00 AM3:30 PM, 5:00 AM5:00 PM, 6:00 AM5:00 PM, or similar).
  • Availability for overtime and extended shifts, including 6:00 AM6:00 PM schedules when required.
  • Ability to work most of the time outdoors, in hot and dirty conditions, at steel manufacturing facilities, power plants, and chemical plants.
  • Strong focus on safety and adherence to site-specific safety rules and procedures.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Comfort using forklifts or other material handling equipment is a plus.
  • Willingness to travel to nearby locations, including Charleston, for daily assignments such as 7:00 AM3:30 PM shifts.
  • Ability to adapt to changing schedules and project demands with short notice.
  • Strong teamwork skills and a positive attitude toward working in diverse industrial environments.

Why Work Here?

This opportunity offers consistent, long-term work with substantial overtime potential for those who want to maximize their hours. You will gain valuable experience in industrial environments such as steel mills, power plants, and chemical facilities, building practical skills that can support future career growth. The role provides variety through different projects and locations, along with a culture that rewards reliability, hard work, and a willingness to learn. Flexible scheduling aligned with client needs allows you to take on extended shifts and increase your earnings while working in a team-oriented environment.

Work Environment

The work environment is predominantly outdoors, with approximately 90% of duties performed outside in hot, dirty, and physically demanding conditions. You will work at industrial client sites, including steel manufacturing facilities, power plants during shutdowns, and chemical plants, where you will be exposed to industrial noise, varying weather conditions, and rugged terrain. The role follows first-shift hours that vary by customer, such as 7:00 AM3:30 PM, 5:00 AM5:00 PM, or 6:00 AM5:00 PM, and some projects require extended 6:00 AM6:00 PM shifts for several days per week. Overtime is common, including Saturday work when projects fall behind schedule, so schedule flexibility is essential. You will regularly use hand tools, power tools, shovels, pressure washers, and large industrial vacuum systems while adhering to site safety requirements and appropriate work attire for industrial and outdoor conditions.
