Job Description

This role supports a concrete manufacturing operation by handling, processing, and stacking masonry products in the Tumbler and Honer departments. You will work on a production line, moving bricks from conveyors or machines onto pallets, and preparing them for shipping. The position involves repetitive material handling, heavy lifting, and working closely with a small, safety-focused team on either day or night shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Work in the Tumbler department to remove bricks from a half-circle conveyor belt and stack them neatly onto pallets throughout the shift.
  • Monitor brick flow on the conveyor and maintain a steady pace to keep production moving efficiently.
  • Fill pallets with bricks and prepare them for forklift pickup, wrapping, and shipment.
  • Work in the Honer department to place approximately 35-pound bricks onto the Honer machine for edge grinding.
  • Retrieve bricks after they pass through the Honer machine and stack them on pallets in higher stacks than those in the Tumbler department.
  • Perform repetitive heavy lifting and material handling safely and consistently during the shift.
  • Support shipping and receiving activities by loading and stacking pallets of concrete products as needed.
  • Operate or work around sit-down forklifts in a safe manner when trained and authorized.
  • Follow all safety procedures, including proper use of PPE such as respirators, steel metatarsal shoes, safety glasses, hard hat, and safety vest.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area to reduce dust and debris and support a safe work environment.
  • Collaborate with a team of 46 coworkers to meet production goals and maintain a team-oriented environment.
  • Adapt to varying work conditions, including cold temperatures in winter, hot temperatures in summer, and windy or dusty environments.
  • Report any equipment issues, safety concerns, or production problems promptly to appropriate personnel.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures related to safety, quality, and attendance.

Essential Skills

  • Proven ability to perform heavy lifting on a regular basis, including handling bricks weighing approximately 35 pounds.
  • Experience in general labor or material handling roles in industrial, manufacturing, or construction environments.
  • Familiarity with stacking pallets and loading materials for shipping and receiving.
  • Ability to work on a production line performing repetitive tasks while maintaining quality and pace.
  • Comfort working around sit-down forklifts and other material handling equipment, with willingness to operate when trained and authorized.
  • Ability to wear and properly use a respirator, including maintaining minimal facial hair to ensure proper respirator fit.
  • Reliability in adhering to scheduled shifts and working Monday through Friday on day or night shifts.
  • Commitment to following safety protocols and using required personal protective equipment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with lumping, loading, and unloading heavy materials is beneficial.
  • Previous work in shipping and receiving environments is a plus.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team of 46 people and contribute to a collaborative, team-oriented culture.
  • Willingness to work in a fast-paced Tumbler department or a slower-paced Honer department with higher pallet stacks.
  • Comfort working in outdoor-like conditions, including exposure to dust and wind.
  • Attention to detail when stacking bricks to ensure stable and safe pallets.
  • Strong work ethic and readiness to learn department processes and equipment.
