Job Description

The Shipping and Receiving Specialist prepares products for shipment to customers by building pallets, crating materials, and loading trucks. This role ensures incoming items are accurately checked in, organized on job carts, and handled according to established shipping and receiving standards. You will work with hand and power tools, use basic computer applications, and support a busy warehouse operation in a climate-controlled facility.

Responsibilities

• Prepare products for shipment by building pallets and securely loading trucks.
• Follow established shipping and receiving standards and procedures as outlined in the Shipping and Receiving Standards binder.
• Use basic computer applications, including Excel and Microsoft Word, to complete shipping and receiving tasks and documentation.
• Measure materials accurately and read a tape measure to ensure correct dimensions for crates, skids, and enclosures.
• Operate chop saws and nail guns safely and effectively to build crates, skids, and crating enclosures with minimal assistance.
• Check in incoming items, verify quantities and descriptions, and place them on their respective job carts.
• Identify and report errors or discrepancies on incoming orders with minimal help.
• Use warehouse tools and equipment, including forklifts and other hand and power tools, in a safe and efficient manner.
• Coordinate with Shipping and Receiving II or Shipping and Receiving Lead when questions arise or clarification is needed.
• Support overall warehouse operations, including shipping, receiving, and material handling activities.
• Lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods to complete daily shipping and receiving tasks.
• Work collaboratively alongside technicians and other team members in the warehouse and loading areas.

Essential Skills

• At least 2 years of warehouse experience in shipping and receiving.
• Minimum of 6 months of experience building pallets.
• Basic computer skills, including proficiency with Excel and Microsoft Word.
• Ability to read a tape measure and work accurately with various measurements.
• Ability to operate chop saws and nail guns safely and effectively.
• Experience building crates, skids, and crating enclosures with minimal assistance.
• Hands-on experience with warehouse shipping and receiving processes.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for up to 8 hours.
• Experience using hand and power tools in a warehouse or industrial environment.
• Familiarity with forklift operation.
• Understanding of shipping and receiving standards and documentation.
• Ability to work indoor and outdoor in shipping and receiving areas as needed.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience using warehouse management or ERP systems such as SAP.
• Previous work in a climate-controlled warehouse environment.
• Comfort working closely with technicians and cross-functional teams.
• Strong attention to detail when checking in and organizing incoming orders.
• Ability to identify and communicate errors or discrepancies on incoming shipments.
• Willingness to ask questions and seek guidance from shipping and receiving staff when needed.
• Reliability in adhering to shift schedules and supporting high-volume shipping operations.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Maryland Heights, MO.

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
