Job Title: Material Handler

Pay: $22.00 - $25.00/hr.

Schedule: Monday - Thursday, 6:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Location: Des Moines, IA

Job Type: Contract to Hire, Fully Onsite

Job Description We are hiring a Material Handler for a manufacturing facility in Des Moines. This position is responsible for moving steel, parts, raw materials, and finished products throughout the facility to keep production running smoothly. You will work closely with production, welding, machining, and shipping teams to make sure materials are in the right place at the right time.

Responsibilities

• Move steel, parts, and production materials throughout the facility.
• Load and unload trucks and delivery vehicles.
• Supply production workstations with necessary materials.
• Move completed parts and assemblies to the next stage of production.
• Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, overhead cranes, and other material handling equipment.
• Stage materials for shipping and receiving.
• Organize materials and maintain inventory locations.
• Perform material counts and help maintain accurate inventory.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
• Follow company safety procedures while working around equipment and heavy materials.

Qualifications

• Previous manufacturing, warehouse, or material handling experience.
• Forklift experience.
• Experience operating overhead cranes is preferred.
• Ability to read work orders and identify materials and parts.
• Comfortable lifting, moving, and handling steel and other heavy materials.
• Experience with inventory and warehouse organization is beneficial.
• Steel fabrication or MIG welding experience is a plus but not required.

Work Environment This position is located in a manufacturing environment in Des Moines. You will work around production, welding, machining, and material handling operations. The standard schedule is Monday through Thursday from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with occasional overtime available on Friday or Saturday based on production needs.

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $25.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
