Job Summary
Radiologic Technologist (X-ray Technologist) This position is based in a healthcare facility and supports the organizations diagnostic imaging services. The role involves performing various radiographic procedures, including portable, fluoroscopic, and C-arm imaging, to assist physicians in patient diagnosis.
Job Details
- Required Qualifications: Graduate of an accredited School of Radiologic Technology; minimum of 2 years of experience required; ARRT Radiography registration required; IEMA-DNS radiography accreditation required; approved CPR or BLS certification within 90 days.
- Schedule: Nights shift; 8 hours per shift; minimum of 40 hours per week.
- Performs diagnostic radiographic, portable, c-arm, and fluoroscopic procedures.
- Reviews patient clinical history to ensure appropriate orders are in place and labs are within range, consulting with radiologist as needed.
- Provides patient education and ensures patient comfort during procedures.
- Selects and operates imaging equipment and accessories to accurately perform exams.
- Positions patients appropriately to best demonstrate anatomy of interest, respecting patient ability and comfort.
- Initiates basic life support when necessary and applies principles of radiation protection to minimize exposure.
- Determines radiographic technique and exposure factors, following ALARA principles.
- Reports and documents XR/FL safety incidents or adverse events per protocol.
- Processes images, reviews for quality and proper identification, and submits for physician review and interpretation.
- Uses radiology information systems, including PACS, to complete all documentation and records.
- Assists with medical record and image sharing as needed.
- Documents all information pertinent to XR/FL procedures in electronic medical records, including medication reconciliation.
- Provides practical instruction for radiography students and partners.
- Operates mobile radiologic equipment in various clinical settings.
- Assists radiologists in fluoroscopic and special X-ray examinations, including contrast media preparation and administration.
- Adjusts and coordinates patient and staff schedules as needed.
- Maintains expert knowledge of electronic medical records, PACS, and imaging equipment.
