HR Generalist – 3-Month Contract

Location: Houma, Louisiana | Manufacturing / Industrial

Walker Elliott has partnered with our client to identify an experienced HR Generalist for a three-month contract assignment at their Houma manufacturing facility. This hands-on role will support daily HR operations, employee relations, and plant safety compliance for a production workforce. The ideal candidate is comfortable working directly with plant supervisors and employees in a fast-paced industrial environment.

Requirements

• 3+ years of HR Generalist experience, including 2+ years in manufacturing, machining, fabrication, or an industrial environment.
• Working knowledge of OSHA regulations, safety programs, and recordkeeping requirements.
• Experience with workers' compensation claims, employee relations, and federal/state employment laws.
• Experience supporting hourly production employees, including payroll, HRIS, onboarding, and employee documentation.
• Strong communication and organizational skills; Louisiana employment law experience and HR/safety certifications are a plus.

Job Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day HR operations, employee relations, personnel records, leave administration, and payroll/timekeeping support.
• Partner with plant leadership on employee concerns, performance management, attendance, and workplace policies.
• Maintain OSHA logs, safety training records, certifications, and compliance documentation.
• Coordinate workers' compensation claims, incident reporting, drug testing, and return-to-work programs.
• Support recruiting, onboarding, safety orientation, and preparation of audit-ready HR and safety records.
