Structural Steel Project Manager

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Structural Steel Project Manager to oversee structural steel and miscellaneous metals projects from contract award through completion.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in structural steel fabrication, project scheduling, material procurement, budgeting, and customer coordination. This individual will work closely with engineering, detailing, fabrication, and field teams to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage structural steel and miscellaneous metals projects from award through closeout.
• Review contracts, construction drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
• Coordinate project schedules, material procurement, shop fabrication, and deliveries.
• Serve as the primary contact for customers, general contractors, engineers, and vendors.
• Collaborate with detailing, engineering, and fabrication teams to maintain production schedules.
• Monitor project budgets, costs, change orders, and profitability.
• Manage RFIs, submittals, project documentation, and customer communications.
• Identify and resolve scheduling, fabrication, and delivery challenges.
• Coordinate with field personnel and erection contractors as needed.
• Ensure projects meet quality standards and customer expectations.

Required Qualifications

• 3+ years of project management experience in structural steel fabrication, steel erection, miscellaneous metals, or related metal fabrication.
• Strong understanding of structural steel materials, fabrication processes, and construction schedules.
• Ability to read and interpret structural drawings, shop drawings, and specifications.
• Experience managing project budgets, procurement, scheduling, and subcontractor coordination.
• Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and project management software.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working for a structural steel fabricator or steel erection contractor.
• Familiarity with Tekla, Bluebeam, or similar steel/construction software.
• Experience coordinating projects involving structural beams, columns, joists, decking, stairs, railings, and miscellaneous metals.
