Job Summary

Responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment throughout school buildings and facilities. Performs routine cleaning, sanitation, and general custodial duties to support the daily operations of the school system.

Essential Job Duties

• Sweep, mop, vacuum, and clean floors throughout classrooms, hallways, offices, and common areas.
• Clean and sanitize restrooms, sinks, toilets, and other frequently used surfaces.
• Empty trash and recycling containers and dispose of waste properly.
• Dust and wipe down desks, furniture, windowsills, and other surfaces.
• Restock restroom supplies, including soap, paper towels, and toilet paper.
• Clean cafeteria areas, classrooms, gymnasiums, and other assigned spaces.
• Operate and maintain custodial equipment and use cleaning products safely.
• Report maintenance issues, safety hazards, and needed repairs to the appropriate personnel.
• Follow established cleaning procedures, safety guidelines, and school system policies.
• Assist with room setups and other custodial tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

• Ability to perform physical custodial duties, including standing, walking, bending, lifting, and pushing cleaning equipment.
• Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality.
• Previous custodial or commercial cleaning experience preferred.
• Ability to work around students, school staff, and visitors in a professional manner.
• Must meet applicable school system hiring and background screening requirements.

Work Environment

Work is performed inside school buildings and may include classrooms, restrooms, cafeterias, hallways, and outdoor areas. Schedule may include early morning, evening, or other assigned shifts.
