Fiber Installation Technician Data Center $25/HOUR

Position Overview

We are seeking Fiber Installation Technicians to support the installation of fiber optic infrastructure within a large-scale data center campus in Cedar Rapids. This role involves installing fiber optic cable, innerduct, conduit, and pathway systems in both indoor and outdoor environments. Candidates should be comfortable working in a fast-paced construction setting, reading basic drawings, and performing physically active work while maintaining high safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Install and route fiber optic cable, innerduct, and conduit throughout the data center campus.
• Pull and secure fiber through conduit systems, manholes, handholes, and cable pathways.
• Install pathway systems including MaxCell, microfiber, and cable supports.
• Read and follow cable maps, blueprints, and construction drawings.
• Label, document, and maintain accurate records of installed cabling.
• Perform quality checks to ensure installations meet project specifications.
• Follow proper fiber handling procedures, including bend radius and cable management requirements.
• Work closely with project teams, including installers, splicers, and construction personnel.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Adhere to all site safety and security requirements.

Required Qualifications

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
• Ability to work in confined spaces, mechanical rooms, and outdoor environments.
• Able to stand, climb, lift, and perform physical work throughout the day.
• Valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications

• Data center experience.
• Fiber optic installation experience in OSP or commercial environments.
• Experience with MaxCell or similar pathway systems.
• Experience in low-voltage, structured cabling, or telecommunications construction.

Work Environment

This position is based at a secure data center campus in Cedar Rapids, IA. Work will be performed both indoors and outdoors and may include mechanical rooms, cable vaults, manholes, and other restricted-access areas. Employees can expect a physically active role averaging approximately 50 hours per week, with overtime available based on project demands.

This is a Contract position based out of Cedar Rapids, IA.

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
