Classroom Assistant | Gettysburg, Pennsylvania

Make a meaningful difference in a child’s life by providing essential 1:1 behavioral and academic support in an elementary school setting. We're seeking a dedicated paraprofessional for a contract role for the remainder of the school year through May 26, 2027, with a Monday–Friday schedule, totaling approximately 35–37.5 hours each week.

In this role, you'll work closely with a student diagnosed with Reactive Attachment Disorder (RAD), following their Behavior Intervention Plan with diligence and care. Your expertise will be vital in fostering an environment of trust, consistency, and growth—helping the student succeed each day.

Key Responsibilities:

• Accompany the student on the school bus to provide continuity and support as needed
• Implement the student’s Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP), focusing on creating predictable, calm routines
• Handle behavioral challenges with a calm, neutral demeanor, avoiding power struggles and supporting de-escalation
• Maintain professional boundaries while encouraging the student’s independence
• Collect data on behaviors and collaborate with the teaching and special education team to ensure consistent implementation of strategies

Key Qualifications:

• At least one year of paraprofessional experience in behavioral support or trauma-informed care (must be stated on resume)
• Experience or background in special education, behavioral support, psychology, social work, or trauma-informed education
• Demonstrated patience, strong emotional regulation, and de-escalation skills
• Ability to maintain consistent professional boundaries and follow structured plans
• Meets Pennsylvania paraprofessional requirements—or willing to obtain para certification within 60 days if lacking credentials (48+ college credits or an associate degree or higher)
