A smaller firm where you actually get to be a Tax Manager, rather than spending half your week doing work someone else could be doing.

\n

\n

If you enjoy working directly with clients, having ownership over your engagements and being trusted to manage your own time, this could be a very good move.

\n

\n

And I can actually vouch for the firm, because I've already helped a Senior Tax Accountant join them. The feedback since has been excellent. They've found a much better balance outside of work, have more freedom around their hours and have settled into the team really well.

\n

The firm is small and has a refreshingly simple approach to flexibility. Get the work done, look after your clients and support the team when things get busy, and they'll give you that same consideration when life gets busy outside of work.

\n

\n

Busy season tops out at around 50-55 hours, and outside of that there's plenty of flexibility around your working hours. The position is office based for the first 6 months with the opportunity for more flexibility once you're established.

\n

\n

And there's a good reason they're hiring. They're actually turning clients away because they don't have enough people to take on the work.

\n

\n

As Tax Manager, you'll take ownership of engagements from start to finish, primarily reviewing S Corps, Partnerships, 1040s, K1s, high net worth individuals and closely held businesses, with some international tax exposure too.

\n

\n

You'll manage client relationships, oversee budgets, resolve issues and have the autonomy to run your engagements without someone constantly looking over your shoulder.

\n

\n

And here's something you'll probably appreciate. Very little data entry.

\n

\n

The firm has an offshore team handling much of the preparation and administrative work, which means you can spend more time reviewing, advising clients and doing the work you'd actually expect to be doing at Manager level.

\n

\n

They're looking for a CPA with strong UltraTax experience, broad tax knowledge and the confidence to manage clients independently. Someone personable, organised and comfortable taking responsibility for their own portfolio.

\n

\n

You'll also receive a 401k with safe harbour match, fully paid employee health, dental and vision insurance, GAP insurance, PTO, all major holidays off and a Christmas shutdown.

It's a small firm, so you'll need to enjoy being part of a close team and getting involved when needed. But in return, you'll have genuine autonomy, direct client relationships and a lot more control over how you manage your working day.
