Certified Nursing Assistant - Operating Room

Tibor Rubin VA Long Beach Healthcare System (VALBHS), 5901 E 7th St. Long Beach, CA

The VA Long Beach Health Care | Veterans Affairs provides health care services at 8 locations in Los Angeles and Orange counties. Facilities include our Tibor Rubin VA Medical Center in Long Beach and 7 community-based outpatient clinics in Anaheim, Gardena, Laguna Hills, Long Beach, Santa Fe Springs, and Santa Ana. The Long Beach Healthcare System is one of the leading health care systems serving Veterans in the VA Desert Pacific Network. 

WE OFFER:

Position: Full-Time – Monday – Friday 7:00am – 3:30pm
Base Pay:  $23.00/hour 8‑hour shift

Additional Earnings:  $5.09/hour for up to 40 hours per week. 

• Used to offset health insurance premiums offered by BTL or deposited into the employee’s 401a account

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

• Provides direct support to the Operating Room and Perioperative Services through patient transportation, assistance with patient positioning and transfers, operating room turnover, supply stocking, equipment movement, and environmental maintenance.
•  Maintains a safe and efficient surgical environment while adhering to VA infection control, patient safety, and privacy standards. 
• Duties require extensive walking, prolonged standing, and frequent movement of patients, supplies, and equipment throughout the medical center. 
• No patient sitter or constant observation duties are required.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• High School Diploma or equivalent required. Completion of an approved CNA program through the state of California or equivalency required
• Current certification as a CNA by the California State Department of Consumer Affairs
• Minimum 1 years’ experience with acute or long-term care.
• Must possess current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certified by the American Heart Association
• Demonstrate a dedication to customer service and an ability to meet the needs and expectations of patients and health care colleagues
• Constant standing, walking, lifting, and bending is required. 
• Duties require providing manual assistance in lifting and positioning patients. 
• Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs. and carry up to 10 ft.
• Understand, speak, read and write English fluently
• Possess ability to recognize and react to emergency patient/resident care situations and intervene while waiting for assistance.
• Must be able to work Monday-Friday at 8-hour days or as required by OR unit
• Must be able to work in the US without sponsorship
• A Real ID (REAL ID - Cali DMV) or unexpired U.S. Passport required to move through the credentialing process
