Job Description
Purpose in Practice

At R.H. White, our day-to-day work is commercial construction, but our purpose is creating well-being for our people, customers, and communities. Through our Power of One culture, every employee has the opportunity to make a meaningful impact, whether on a jobsite, within the company, or in the communities we serve. We invest in our people through training, career development, and a strong commitment to safety, creating opportunities to build not just projects, but long-term careers. If you're looking to join a team where your contributions matter and your growth is supported, we'd love to hear from you.

Build What Matters

As a Pipe Layer supporting our Underground Utilities work in Northern New England, you’ll help install and maintain the Utility Construction systems that deliver clean water and reliable service to the public.

Key responsibilities
- Install and repair Water Main, Sewer Main, and Storm Drainage/Drainage Systems (including Sanitary Sewer and Force Main)
- Set line/grade, perform Grade Checking, and coordinate with the Utility Crew around Heavy Equipment
- Install Manholes and Catch Basins; complete utility connections and Water Main testing
- Support Excavation, Trench Safety, and Shoring (Timber Shoring, Slide Rail, Trench Box)

Required experience/skills
- 2+ years in Site Utilities/Heavy Civil Construction or Water/Wastewater
- Pipefitter/Pipe Layer experience with DIP/Ductile Iron Pipe, PVC, HDPE, steel, CPP, or FRP
- GPS Layout or machine control exposure is a plus

Ready to grow your craft on a variety of Commercial projects? Apply today.

In the Field

You start Mon–Fri with the crew, reviewing the day’s plan for Underground Utilities and the next stretch of Utility Infrastructure. Out on an active Civil Construction site, you’re outdoors—moving between trench areas and laydown—watching the rhythm of equipment and people. You’ll double-check elevations, keep an eye on trench conditions, and stay in sync with foremen as the work progresses from Sewer Collection Systems to Water Distribution tie-ins. Some days focus on confined areas and access; others are longer runs with changing soils and depths. Throughout, you’ll see your work take shape as a finished section of commercial, industrial, municipal, and a variety of other public-facing utility installations.

Support That Sticks

Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance; 401(k); Life Insurance; Health Savings Account (HSA) and Flexible Spending Account (FSA); Competitive Salary with weekly pay; Travel Stipend, Paid Time Off; Employee Discounts. PPE/steel-toed boots reimbursement, safety incentives, educational assistance, plus ongoing craft and safety training, mentorship, and leadership development.
