Senior CNC Machinist

Position Summary

PrideStaff is recruiting an experienced Senior CNC Machinist for a precision manufacturing company. This position is for an experienced machinist who can work independently from engineering drawings through machine setup, machining, inspection, and completed part. The successful candidate will bring strong CNC machining fundamentals, sound judgment around tooling and workholding.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC vertical machining centers for precision production and tooling work.
• Perform independent machine setups, including workholding, fixtures, tooling, offsets, and initial part prove-out.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, dimensions, tolerances, and GD&T.
• Select appropriate cutting tools, speeds, feeds, and machining approaches based on part geometry and material.
• Troubleshoot machining problems involving tooling, fixtures, chatter, dimensional variation, surface finish, machine conditions, and part quality.
• Inspect work using precision measuring equipment and verify conformance to drawings and specifications.
• Identify manufacturability concerns and communicate effectively with engineering, quality, and production.
• Support first-article and new-product work, including setup refinement and process improvement.
• Make appropriate adjustments to maintain dimensional accuracy and repeatability throughout production.
• Work with engineering on fixtures, workholding, machining sequences, and process improvements.
• Machine materials that may include aluminum, plastics, tooling materials, composites, and other precision-manufacturing materials.
• Maintain accurate production, inspection, and manufacturing documentation and follow applicable quality procedures.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on CNC machining experience in a precision manufacturing environment.
• Strong experience independently setting up and operating CNC mills or vertical machining centers.
• Demonstrated ability to work from engineering drawings with limited supervision.
• Strong understanding of GD&T, datums, tolerances, and inspection requirements.
• Experience selecting tooling, establishing workholding, setting offsets, and troubleshooting machining processes.
• Ability to use precision inspection equipment such as micrometers, calipers, height gauges, indicators, and related measuring tools.
• Strong attention to detail, reliability, and commitment to producing conforming parts.

Preferred Experience

• Haas CNC machining experience.
• 3-axis and/or 4-axis machining experience; 5-axis experience is a plus.
• CNC programming, program-editing, or CAM experience.
• Fixture and workholding design or modification experience.
• Aerospace, defense, medical device, AS9100, or ISO 9001 manufacturing experience.
• Prototype, first-article, low-volume/high-mix, or new-product manufacturing experience.
