Crane & Gantry Rigger - MUST HAVE EXPERIENCE

Location: Palmetto, GA
Pay: $27/hour
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM, with no anticipated overtime or weekends.

Position Summary

The Rigger is responsible for safely preparing, attaching, guiding, moving, and positioning heavy or oversized loads using cranes, gantry cranes, hoists, and rigging equipment. Safety, proper load securement, and communication with equipment operators are key parts of the position.

Key Responsibilities

• Select and inspect slings, chains, shackles, hooks, spreader bars, lifting beams, and hoists
• Properly rig and secure loads before lifting
• Guide crane operators using hand signals, flags, or radio communication
• Calculate load weights and determine appropriate rigging configurations
• Determine center of gravity for safe lifts
• Read and follow lift plans
• Inspect rigging equipment before use and remove defective equipment from service
• Assist with heavy, oversized, and specialized freight
• Help load and unload trucks
• Coordinate with crane operators, forklift operators, spotters, and warehouse personnel
• Follow OSHA and site-specific safety procedures
• Maintain a clean and hazard-free work area.

Qualifications

• Rigging experience is highly preferred
• 2+ years of industrial rigging, crane, construction, manufacturing, or heavy material-handling experience is preferred for the indoor gantry role
• Experience working around overhead cranes and suspended loads
• Knowledge of proper rigging and load-securement techniques
• Ability to understand lift plans
• Basic math skills for load-weight and rigging calculations
• Forklift certification or ability to become certified.

Certifications That Stand Out

• NCCCO Rigger Level I or Level II preferred
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 is a plus.

• Ability to lift/move up to 50+ lbs
• Prolonged standing and walking
• Bending, kneeling, crouching, climbing, and reaching
• Comfortable working around heavy equipment and suspended loads.
