Data Specialist/ Data Entry Clerk/ Fingerprint Clerk (Legal)

Duration: 12+ Months

Key Responsibilities:
The position offers a unique and challenging experience for a highly motivated person.

The selected candidate will be assigned to work as a contracted data management clerk. This position is for first shift only (8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.)

Primary duties include the following:

• Criminal history record data review and data entry.
• Ensure the full criminal history accurately relays information provided to the Office.
• Researching criminal history records both digitally and manually.
• Accessing the Courts, Law enforcement, and office programs and software for frequently updated data.
• Processing fax and e-mail requests from Courts, Judges, and Police Departments.

Fingerprinting Classification Clerk:

Primary duties include the following:

• The rapid and accurate entry of personal identifying information and supporting data for processing of applicants for a fingerprint-based national criminal history check.
• To enter, edit, and delete data residing within the Rhode Island Computerized Criminal History (CCH) system and Federal criminal history databases.
• Operation of an Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS) Live Scan machine.
• Processing of applicant criminal history inquiries, to include but not limited to marijuana cultivators through the use of the AFIS Client Workstation.
• Scanning and biographical data entry for fingerprints that are submitted by mail from out- of-state applicants and updating that information in the CCH database.
• Operation of Quick Search two-finger scan, a process for matching a two-finger scan with an existing ten-print fingerprint card in the AFIS system.
• To have a knowledge and understanding of all State statutes that require a National Background fingerprint check and understand what may constitute disqualifying information.
• To be familiar with all FBI policies and procedures that have a direct impact on the Central Repository record of the State of Rhode Island.
• Customer service at BCI's front window, including the processing of State criminal history checks (non-fingerprint-based).
