Job Description

Step into a high-precision aerospace environment where your CNC programming expertise directly contributes to mission‐critical aircraft and defense components. This is a permanent opportunity in Kansas City to own complex NX programming projects from concept through to finished part, working with advanced materials, multi‐axis equipment, and tight tolerances.

About the Role:

You will be responsible for programming and optimizing CNC machining operations using NX to produce high‐tolerance aerospace components. Working closely with machinists and engineers, you will translate complex CAD models and technical drawings into robust, efficient CNC programs that meet stringent aerospace quality and compliance standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Program CNC mills and lathes using NX CAD/CAM to machine complex aerospace components to tight tolerances
  • Translate CAD models and blueprints into CNC code, including toolpaths, work offsets, and machining strategies
  • Set up CNC machines, including fixture installation, tool loading, and verification of work holding for production runs
  • Select and optimize cutting tools, speeds, feeds, and machining parameters for materials such as titanium, Inconel, aluminum, and aerospace‐grade steels
  • Design and refine work holding, fixtures, and tooling solutions to improve cycle times, accuracy, and repeatability
  • Collaborate with machinists, manufacturing engineers, and quality teams to troubleshoot issues and improve existing programs
  • Create and maintain setup sheets, revision‐controlled programs, and documentation to support aerospace quality and audit requirements
  • Conduct program verification and prove‐outs, ensuring safe, efficient operation and compliance with customer and internal specifications

Key Requirements:

  • Proven CNC NX Programmer experience in aerospace, producing tight‐tolerance components for aircraft, defense, or space systems
  • Strong hands‐on CNC machinist background, including machine setup and operation on multi‐axis mills and lathes
  • Proficiency with NX CAD/CAM for programming complex contours, surfacing, and multi‐axis toolpaths
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T for precision machining applications
  • In‐depth knowledge of machining processes, cutting tools, and material behavior for aerospace alloys
  • Experience optimizing tooling, feeds, and speeds for productivity while maintaining dimensional accuracy and surface finish
  • Familiarity with maintaining revision control and production documentation in a regulated manufacturing environment
  • Ability to work collaboratively on the shop floor, communicating effectively with machinists, engineers, and quality personnel

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience with additional CAD/CAM platforms such as Catia, MasterCAM, or SmartCAM
  • Exposure to Vericut or similar simulation software for program verification
  • Background in lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, or aerospace production systems
  • Knowledge of CMM Manager or other inspection/metrology software for validating complex geometries
  • Experience designing custom fixtures and tooling for high‐mix, low‐volume aerospace work
  • Understanding of aerospace quality standards and documentation practices (e.g., AS9100 environments)

Qualifications:

  • Technical diploma, associate degree, or apprenticeship in CNC machining, manufacturing technology, mechanical engineering, or a related field
  • 3–5+ years CNC programming experience, with a strong focus on NX; 5+ years preferred for complex aerospace work
  • Formal training or certification in CAD/CAM programming (NX or equivalent) is highly preferred
  • Additional coursework or certifications in GD&T, advanced machining, or aerospace manufacturing are an advantage

If you are an experienced aerospace CNC NX programmer looking for a stable, permanent role where your skills are central to production success, we encourage you to apply.
