Job Description

We are hiring Production Technicians for a chemical manufacturing facility in Des Moines. This position is responsible for operating production and packaging equipment, weighing and packaging products, labeling finished materials, palletizing orders, and operating a forklift. This is a hands-on production position that requires regular material handling and lifting.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor production and packaging equipment.
• Weigh products and verify correct amounts using scales.
• Fill, seal, label, and palletize finished products.
• Operate a forklift to move materials and finished products.
• Load materials into production equipment according to work instructions.
• Handle powders, liquid materials, and other production materials safely.
• Perform general production, packaging, and material handling duties.
• Inspect finished products for correct weight, packaging, and labeling.
• Assist other production employees to keep the line running efficiently.
• Maintain a clean and organized production area.
• Follow all safety procedures when working around chemicals, equipment, dust, and fumes.
• Work overtime as needed during busy production periods.

Qualifications

• Previous production, manufacturing, machine operation, or packaging experience preferred.
• Forklift experience required.
• Comfortable regularly lifting and handling up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to perform repetitive and physically demanding production work.
• Comfortable working around powders, chemicals, dust, and strong fumes.
• Ability to follow written and verbal work instructions.
• Strong attention to detail when weighing, packaging, labeling, and palletizing products.
• Comfortable working in a non-temperature-controlled manufacturing facility.
• Willingness to work overtime during busy production periods.

Work Environment

This position is located in a chemical manufacturing facility in Des Moines. The facility is dusty and not temperature controlled, and employees may be exposed to strong fumes and chemical processing operations. Employees spend the majority of their shift working on the production line with additional forklift operation as needed. Uniforms and shoe protection are provided.

During the busy season, typically December through May, additional overtime and extended shifts may be required.

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $21.75/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
