Location: Altavista, VA
Job Type: Full-Time / Contract
Shift: Swing Shift | 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM (Monday – Friday)
Pay Rate: $16.55 / hour
About the Role
We are seeking a dependable Forklift Driver to join our warehouse and production support team on the Swing Shift in Altavista, VA. In this entry-level friendly role, you will operate powered industrial trucks to safely transport, stack, load, and stage materials, components, and finished goods across the facility.
What You’ll Do
- Safely drive and maneuver powered industrial trucks (electric, propane, gas, or diesel) equipped with forks, elevating platforms, or buckets to load, unload, and transport materials.
- Move pallets, raw materials, and finished inventory between receiving docks, storage racks, and active production lines.
- Perform daily pre-operational safety inspections on equipment (e.g., checking fluid levels, tire condition, controls, brakes, and safety lights) and log inspection records.
- Accurately place, stack, and retrieve materials in designated warehouse locations to maintain inventory organization.
- Adhere to all OSHA, plant safety, and traffic regulations to ensure a safe work environment for pedestrians and other equipment operators.
What We’re Looking For
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- 0–1 year of forklift or warehouse material-handling experience (candidates with transferable equipment operation experience or strong mechanical aptitude are encouraged to apply).
- High awareness of facility safety rules, pedestrian zones, and proper load-handling techniques.
- Strong work ethic, good attendance, and the ability to work consistently on the swing shift.
- Ability to understand verbal instructions and read standard warehouse labels, work orders, and safety signs.
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
- Ability to sit, drive, mount, and dismount a forklift repeatedly throughout an 8-hour shift.
- Ability to bend, stoop, and lift up to 40–50 lbs occasionally when manual handling is required.
- Comfort working in an active manufacturing and warehouse environment with varying temperatures.
