About this job
Job Description
At Erdrich USA, every smooth production launch begins with an expert setup. As our Automotive Stamping Setup & Tooling Changeover Specialist, you’ll own the tooling changeover process, fine-tune machines for quality and throughput, and keep our fast-paced automotive manufacturing floor moving. This is not an entry-level role—you’ll draw on deep mechanical aptitude, hands-on experience, and a passion for precision.
A Day in the LifeYou review setup sheets and blueprints, stage tooling, and coordinate a safe crane or forklift move. You dial in the press, validate first-piece quality, and document the setup. A hiccup appears—you troubleshoot quickly, minimize downtime, and mentor an operator on best practices. Before you leave, you note a change that could shave minutes off the next changeover.
Your Core Responsibilities- Execute die and tooling changeovers on production equipment with speed and accuracy.
- Prepare machines and tooling for upcoming production runs.
- Verify setups meet quality specifications and production targets.
- Troubleshoot setup-related issues to reduce downtime and stabilize processes.
- Operate overhead cranes and forklifts safely during changeovers.
- Interpret production documents, setup sheets, blueprints, and work instructions.
- Partner with production, maintenance, quality, and leadership to meet goals.
- Recommend and implement improvements that reduce setup times and boost productivity.
- Assist in training operators and fellow setup personnel.
- Maintain 7S, safety, and housekeeping standards at all times.
- 3+ years in manufacturing, stamping, metal forming, tooling, maintenance, or equipment setup.
- Proven ability to perform machine and die changeovers independently.
- Fluency in reading blueprints and using precision measuring tools.
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with forklifts and overhead cranes preferred.
- Background in an automotive manufacturing environment preferred.
- Familiarity with SAP, production systems, or manufacturing software is a plus.
- Willingness to work overtime and rotating shifts as needed.
- Stable, fast-paced automotive manufacturing environment.
- Competitive pay based on your experience.
- Continual opportunities to expand your technical skill set.
- Growth paths into Team Lead, Maintenance, Tool & Die, Engineering Support, or Leadership roles.
- A hands-on role with a direct, visible impact on plant performance.
