General Laborer

Genereral Labor/Shipping: $19-21/hr FIRST SHIFT

Job Description

As a General Laborer, you will be responsible for assembling and preparing outgoing parts, equipment, materials, products, and rejects for both domestic and export shipment. This role involves loading and unloading shipments, receiving materials, and performing cycle counts to ensure accurate inventory. You will also be required to perform data entry for maintaining precise records.

Responsibilities

• Compare identifying information and count, weigh, or measure items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
• Determine the method of shipment and affix shipping labels on packed cartons or stencil identifying shipping information on cartons.
• Assemble wooden or cardboard containers or select preassembled containers, inserting items into containers.
• Stamp, stencil, or glue identifying information and shipping instructions onto crates or containers.
• Post weights and shipping charges and affix postage.
• Unpack and examine incoming shipments, reject damaged items, and record shortages, routing items to the appropriate destinations.
• Examine outgoing shipments to ensure they meet specifications.
• Maintain inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
• Operate industrial trucks or use hand trucks to load and unload vehicles, moving, conveying, or hoisting shipments from the shipping and receiving platform to storage or work areas.
• Process, print, and record all incoming and outgoing materials at outside vendors.
• Maintain inventory via computer and store and retrieve materials.
• Complete work order cards.
• Deliver or pick up materials from vendors.
• Coordinate efforts of other employees in the area.

Essential Skills

• 4-5+ years of shipping and receiving experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency in using hand tools, grinders, and deburring techniques.
• Experience with packaging and assembly.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in general labor, construction, shipping and receiving, and production.

Work Environment

The work environment is a non-climate-controlled production and warehouse setting. You will be part of a team of 25, primarily working with 7-10 colleagues, pulling orders and performing general labor duties. The role requires lifting up to 50 lbs, and steel-toe boots are mandatory. The shift runs from 5 AM to 3 PM, Monday to Friday, with rare Saturday shifts. The hours will change to 7 AM to 3 PM as the weather cools in September.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Farmers Branch, TX.

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
