Job Description

The Assembler I, Assembly - Skilled role focuses on building mechanical and electrical/electronic subassemblies and complete units using a variety of hand and power tools. You assemble fabricated parts and components, fit and align mechanisms, and perform basic calibration and adjustments to ensure products meet defined tolerances and operating requirements. You work within clearly established procedures and guidelines, handling routine, manual tasks that require attention to detail and adherence to instructions.

Responsibilities

• Assemble mechanical units, fabricated parts, and components into subassemblies, assemblies, or complete units according to established work instructions and diagrams.
• Build electrical and electronic systems and integrate them into mechanical assemblies using appropriate tools and fixtures.
• Use hand tools, power tools, jigs, fixtures, and miscellaneous equipment safely and correctly during the assembly process.
• Fit, align, and secure parts and mechanisms to meet specified tolerances and product operating requirements.
• Calibrate and adjust parts and mechanisms as needed to ensure proper function and performance.
• Inspect assembled units for defects or nonconformance and identify products that do not meet quality or performance requirements.
• Repair or rework units and products that have failed to meet requirements, following defined procedures and guidelines.
• Follow detailed and defined rules, instructions, and standard operating procedures in all assembly and repair activities.
• Make straightforward decisions by selecting between established solutions when issues arise during assembly.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area and handle tools and equipment in accordance with safety and quality standards.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Portage, MI.

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
