Job Description

Job Description

Do you enjoy building and improving processes rather than simply managing what's already in place? Are you someone who likes digging into the details, solving problems, and finding practical ways to improve forecasting, purchasing, inventory, and supplier performance? Are you confident challenging the status quo, asking tough questions, and driving meaningful change? Do you enjoy developing people while staying involved in the day-to-day operations of the business? Are you ready for an opportunity where you can take ownership, build a stronger Supply Chain function, and make a measurable impact on a growing company?

If this sounds like you, then we need you as our Director of Supply Chain! See the details of the position below.

The Pond Guy / Airmax, Inc. is the leading manufacturer and distributor of pond, lake, and water garden products, including aeration systems, fountains, and water treatments. The Pond Guy sells nationwide to both end-users and a network of Airmax distributors. Watch now to learn about The Pond Guy: https://qrcodes.pro/sIkmTV

 Position Overview

The Director of Supply Chain is a hands-on leadership role responsible for building, improving, and leading the company's Supply Chain operations across planning, purchasing, supplier management, inventory, and logistics.

Reporting to the VP of Operations, this individual will work closely with teams across the organization to identify opportunities, develop practical solutions, and implement processes that improve efficiency, product availability, and cost performance.

This opportunity is ideal for someone who enjoys both strategic planning and hands-on execution. You'll help establish and strengthen Supply Chain processes, lead forecasting and Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP), improve supplier relationships, and develop a team capable of supporting the company's continued growth.

What Success Looks Like

Success in this role means building a more structured, efficient, and reliable Supply Chain operation while remaining actively involved in solving day-to-day challenges.

You'll improve how we forecast demand, manage inventory, source products, and work with suppliers. You'll establish processes and performance measures that help teams make better decisions, reduce costs, and improve service.

Just as importantly, you'll develop employees, build accountability, and create sustainable processes that support long-term growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and strengthen the company's Supply Chain functions across planning, purchasing, supplier management, and inventory management by assessing current processes, identifying gaps, and personally implementing improvements that support efficiency and long-term growth
  • Develop and implement practical forecasting, demand planning, and Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) processes that align purchasing, inventory, and operational needs
  • Lead procurement and strategic sourcing initiatives while building strategic supplier partnerships through negotiation, supplier development, performance management, and supply-risk mitigation
  • Work directly with Supply Chain data, ERP systems, and reporting tools to identify issues, solve problems, and improve decision-making
  • Develop and manage logistics and transportation strategies focused on freight costs, carrier performance, service levels, and overall supply chain efficiency
  • Establish and monitor supply chain performance metrics to improve service, inventory, supplier performance, and operational efficiency
  • Partner with leaders across sales, marketing, finance, engineering, manufacturing, and distribution to lead cross-functional initiatives and support business objectives
  • Build, coach, and develop employees while creating clear responsibilities, accountability, and processes that support continued growth

Don’t know about ponds? That’s ok! You’ll be trained to be proficient in your role. We utilize an interactive combination of hands-on and visual training to ensure everyone has a full understanding of The Pond Guy’s proactive approach to pond management.

 Job Requirements

To be successful in this role, you need to have a certain amount of knowledge and skills:

  • 8+ years of progressive supply chain experience with demonstrated leadership across multiple disciplines including planning, procurement/strategic sourcing, inventory management, supplier management, and logistics
  • Demonstrated experience personally building, implementing, or significantly improving Supply Chain processes, not just managing established systems
  • Hands-on experience with demand planning, forecasting, inventory management, and translating business needs into purchasing and supply decisions. Experience developing or leading S&OP processes is strongly preferred
  • Experience with procurement, strategic sourcing, supplier negotiations, and supplier performance management
  • Experience leading, coaching, and developing employees while improving processes and team accountability
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including hands-on experience with ERP systems, reporting, and performance metrics
  • Ability to balance strategic thinking with day-to-day execution and work effectively in a growing, hands-on business environment
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and business judgment
  • Willingness to leverage AI and emerging technologies to improve productivity and business processes
  • Knowledge of import and domestic sourcing for consumer products is a plus
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations, Engineering, Business, or a related field preferred

This position primarily works in an office environment and requires prolonged periods of sitting, working at a computer, and participating in meetings. It also requires manual dexterity for typing, sitting at a desk, and looking at a computer screen for long periods of time. This position requires extensive use of ERP systems, Microsoft Office applications, data analysis tools, and reporting dashboards.
