Sampson County is seeking a detail-oriented GIS Technician to help maintain accurate property maps and parcel data. This position works closely with the GIS Coordinator to update maps, research property records, and support other County departments.
Work Schedule: Sampson County GIS offers a choice of a four- or five-day workweek. One day of remote work per week may be available after completing the probationary period.
What You'll Do
- Update property maps when properties are divided, combined, or otherwise changed.
- Review deeds, plats, and other property records.
- Edit maps and data using ArcGIS Pro.
- Check property boundaries and records for accuracy.
- Research and resolve mapping questions.
- Work with other County departments and assist the public with mapping questions.
- Help with other GIS projects as needed.
Desired Qualifications
- Education or experience in GIS, geography, surveying, or a related field. A GIS certificate or associate degree is preferred.
- Familiarity with ArcGIS Pro or similar mapping software.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to learn, work independently, and maintain accurate records.
Experience with property records, surveying, or parcel mapping is helpful but not required. Candidates with basic GIS knowledge who are willing to learn are encouraged to apply.
