Packaging Assembler: Machesney Park, Illinois

Our customer in Machesney Park, Illinois is seeking a dependable Packaging Assembler to join their team on 1st shift. This position is responsible for packaging, crating, labeling, inspecting, and preparing products for shipment while ensuring quality, safety, and accuracy standards are met.

Responsibilities of the Packaging Assembler:

Package products for shipment using appropriate materials and methods to ensure safe delivery.
Build custom crates and skids for large, heavy, or delicate products.
Inspect products before packaging to identify damage, defects, or quality concerns.
Verify the accuracy and quality of all crates, skids, and packaged shipments.
Accurately label packages with work order information, weight, dimensions, and shipping details.
Ensure shipments are properly marked and stamped according to shipping requirements.
Assist with monitoring inventory levels of packaging materials and notify management when supplies need replenishment.
Communicate packaging supply needs to Purchasing and management.
Maintain a clean, organized work area in accordance with 5S standards.
Follow all safety procedures while handling materials and operating equipment.
Perform additional tasks and special projects as assigned by management.

Packaging Assembler Requirements and Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED preferred.
Basic measuring and math skills required.
Experience building crates/skids using wood or other shipping materials is helpful.
Ability to safely operate a forklift.
Experience operating an overhead crane is a plus.
Experience using nail guns, staple guns, and radial arm saws is a plus.
Strong communication skills and ability to adapt to changing priorities.
Attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to lift and move items weighing up to 50 pounds.
Ability to stand, bend, and perform repetitive tasks throughout the shift.
Ability to work in a warehouse and manufacturing environment.
Good physical stamina and ability to safely handle materials and finished products.

Pay for Packaging Assembler: Starting at $19/hour.

Schedule: Monday - Thursday from 5:00am - 3:30pm. Friday 5:00am-1:30pm (as needed). OT available.
