Job Description

About APEX Emergency Rooms

Our ownership group is 100% physician-owned, with a strong “Staff First” philosophy. We strive to provide excellent clinical care that is efficient, compassionate, and delivered in a comfortable, welcoming environment. We are also committed to being actively involved in the local community through outreach initiatives and on-site events. Ideally, we are looking for individuals who are friendly, have excellent bedside manner, and are willing to go above and beyond to provide exceptional patient care.

Position Overview

Apex ER is seeking an experienced Facility Director / Registered Nurse to lead operations at our freestanding emergency room. This is a hands-on leadership role. The Facility Director will initially work three 12-hour RN shifts per week as part of the clinical staffing rotation until patient volume supports increased administrative time.

The role also includes additional paid administrative hours as needed for staffing, meetings, inspections, onboarding, compliance, facility operations, and other leadership responsibilities. The Facility Director may also participate in community outreach and marketing events.

All approved clinical, administrative, training, meeting, inspection, outreach, and marketing hours are paid at the same hourly rate of $58.00 per hour.

Facility Director Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily facility operations and maintain regulatory/survey readiness.
  • Manage staffing, scheduling, coverage, onboarding, and staff performance.
  • Maintain compliance with Texas FSER, CLIA/COLA, life-safety, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate inspections, audits, QAPI, quality initiatives, and corrective actions.
  • Oversee supplies, medications, equipment, vendors, maintenance, and facility readiness.
  • Manage operational expenses, payroll coordination, purchasing, and cost controls.
  • Maintain required licenses, certifications, competencies, records, and compliance documentation.
  • Serve as primary liaison with ownership, physicians, staff, vendors, inspectors, and community partners.
  • Participate in community outreach, marketing, and facility growth initiatives.
  • Provide direct emergency RN care as needed and support patient transfers and emergency operations.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

This role combines administrative leadership with hands-on emergency nursing. The employee must be able to stand and walk for prolonged periods, work shifts of up to 12 hours, bend, reach, push, pull, assist with patient transfers and positioning, lift up to approximately 50 pounds independently and greater weights with appropriate assistance or equipment, and respond rapidly during emergencies. The position may involve exposure to blood, bodily fluids, infectious materials, ionizing radiation within established safety standards, high-acuity emergencies, trauma, emotionally stressful situations, and rapidly changing priorities. Reasonable accommodations may be made for qualified individuals with disabilities.

Equal Opportunity Employer

Apex ER is an Equal Opportunity Employer. Employment decisions are based on qualifications, experience, skills, performance, professional conduct, and organizational needs. Apex ER does not discriminate against qualified employees or applicants based on race, color, religion, sex, pregnancy, national origin, ancestry, age, disability, veteran status, genetic information, or any other characteristic protected by applicable federal, state, or local law.
