Staff Accountant

We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support day-to-day accounting operations in Stockton, California. This is a Contract position suited for someone who can manage financial records accurately, contribute to timely reporting, and stay organized in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in general ledger activity, account analysis, and reconciliations, along with the ability to communicate clearly and handle multiple deadlines effectively.

Responsibilities:
• Record and post journal entries to maintain accurate financial data across assigned accounts.
• Perform routine bank and general ledger reconciliations, investigating and resolving variances in a timely manner.
• Review account activity, identify inconsistencies, and take appropriate action to correct discrepancies.
• Prepare recurring internal financial reports and supporting schedules to assist with reporting needs.
• Follow established accounting processes and help uphold compliance with internal controls and documentation standards.
• Contribute to special accounting assignments and provide support on department priorities as business needs evolve.
• Assist with tax-related accounting activities, including support for corporate tax and sales tax processes when needed.• At least 2 years of accounting experience in a staff accountant or similar role.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
• Solid understanding of general ledger accounting, journal entries, and account reconciliation practices.
• Advanced Excel capabilities, including the use of VLOOKUPs, IF formulas, and PivotTables.
• Experience supporting corporate tax, sales tax, or corporate tax return activities is preferred.
• Strong organizational skills with careful attention to detail and accuracy.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to manage competing deadlines.
• Background in grocery, food production, or a related industry is an advantage.
