Remote – Midwest / Central Time Zone | 1099 Contract

Schedule: Fall (6–8 weeks) & Spring (4–6 weeks) | No Benefits

Rate: Agreed $ hourly rate for an agreed block of hours

An established agricultural equipment dealership is looking for experienced parts people to contract with us during our busiest times of year: planting and harvest. When equipment is down, farmers need the right part fast, and you’ll be the one helping them find it.

This is a remote, phone-based role. You’ll take calls from customers, ask the right questions to pinpoint what they’re looking at on their machine, and find the correct part number using John Deere Parts Advisor. Then you’ll check availability, create a ticket for the right store, order from the manufacturer when needed, and assign the call ticket.

This is a great fit for experienced parts people, retired or semi-retired service technicians, or anyone with John Deere know-how who wants meaningful seasonal work from home.

What You’ll Do

• Take live, high-volume inbound parts calls during your contracted hours.
• Use JD Parts Advisor diagrams to identify the correct part number.
• Ask clear questions to understand what the customer is describing and where the part sits on the machine.
• Check availability, create store tickets, and order parts from the manufacturer when not in stock.
• Handle returns, warranties, and purchase adjustments.
• Stay calm and helpful with frustrated customers, especially when equipment is down.

What We’re Looking For

Highly preferred

• John Deere experience, ideally at a dealership in parts or service.
• Experience with JD Parts Advisor, JD Point, Expert Connect, and Equip.
• 2+ years of parts experience, including looking up parts.
• Agricultural background and knowledge of John Deere equipment.

Also important

• Strong computer skills; this role is 100% on a computer.
• Experience in a high-volume call center or phone-based customer service.
• Familiarity with mechanical terms and how equipment fits together.
• Problem-solving skills and a genuine drive to help farmers and customers.
• Experience working from home is a plus.

We’ll train on our computer systems.

Remote Work Requirements

• Must live in the Midwest or Central Time Zone.
• A dedicated, quiet workspace free of background noise.
• Reliable high-speed internet.
• Must have computer/laptop, two monitors, keyboard, mouse, and headset - may be option for company provided equipment.

The Engagement

This is a defined contract: an agreed hourly rate, an agreed number of hours per week, and set start and end dates for each season. It is live call coverage, not on-call or work-whenever.

• Coverage blocks during busy-season hours (weekdays 7 am–8:30 pm) and weekends. We’ll agree on your blocks up front.
• Fall: about 6–8 weeks. Spring: about 4–6 weeks. [Confirm dates]
• Full-day or part-day blocks considered. For experienced parts people, we’ll build coverage around what you can give.

Strong contractors may be invited back each season and considered for full-time openings.

This is a 1099 independent contract; no benefits are included.
