Special Education Para Professional in Wilkes Barre, PA

Paraprofessionals are needed to work onsite in a variety of educational settings, assisting students who require personal care supports in both general and special education classrooms. Assignments run through June 2027, providing the chance to build meaningful relationships while supporting diverse learners.

You may be placed in elementary, intermediate, or high school settings, including specialized programs for students with autism or emotional support needs. School placement is determined by district priorities—your flexibility and willingness to serve where needed most will be highly valued.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Prior experience as a Paraprofessional or Personal Care Aide preferred
• Current or in-progress Pennsylvania credentialing (Act 151 clearance, Act 114 FBI fingerprints, Act 126 training, Act 168 paperwork if applicable)
• 2-step TB test or Quantiferon TB Blood Test
• Recent physical exam (within 60 days of start)
• Willingness to complete PATCH/Act 134 background check and a pre-placement drug screen
• Capable, compassionate communicator with a commitment to supporting student independence

Responsibilities:

• Support students with personal care and in-class assistance, following individualized education plans
• Assist licensed educators, monitor student safety, and encourage positive engagement
• Foster emotional well-being and model appropriate social behavior
• Collaborate with staff to implement effective learning strategies
