Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical Surgical / Telemetry (Neuro)

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Night Shift | Shifts: 6:30 PM – 7:00 AM | Expected every other weekend minimum; additional weekend shifts may be required based on unit needs and census | 2–3 holidays required between Thanksgiving and New Year's

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a 25-bed Med Surg Neuro unit serving a diverse patient population including stroke, stable neurological deficits, post-neurosurgery, and general Med Surg overflow patients
• Manage a patient assignment of 5–6 patients per shift, including high-volume admissions and discharges
• Titrate drips including heparin, lidocaine, and ketamine; manage PCA pumps
• Maintain telemetry awareness; tele techs are available to interpret strips
• Float to other medical surgical areas or units housing Med Surg patients as needed
• Pass a unit-specific open-book skills exam during orientation with a minimum score of 90% required to continue contract

Required Qualifications

• Active and unrestricted RN license with no background hits
• BLS certification required
• NIHSS certification required
• Valid driver's license required at time of submittal
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
• Must not currently hold a full-time, part-time, or PRN position with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity Health
• Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas; compliance is required to maintain contract

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior travel nursing experience preferred; strong candidates without travel experience will be considered
• Experience with Med Surg/Tele patient populations including stroke, neuro, ortho, and general medical diagnoses
• Ability to manage a high-volume, fast-paced unit with frequent admissions and discharges
• Experience caring for culturally diverse patient populations, including Spanish-, Karen-, and Burmese-speaking patients
