Custodian

Job Overview
The Custodian is responsible for maintaining a clean, sanitary, safe, and professional environment across administrative office and shop facilities. This role involves performing routine cleaning duties, managing sanitation inventory, and ensuring all common areas, workspaces, and restrooms meet company hygiene and presentation standards.

Responsibilities

• Administrative Office Cleaning

· Sweep, mop, and vacuum all office flooring, hallways, entryways, and common areas.

· Empty all office trash cans and shredding bins, replacing liners as needed.

· Dust and wipe down surfaces, including desks, countertops, tables, window sills, and office fixtures.

· Clean and sanitize the administrative breakroom/kitchenette, including sink, countertops, tables, and appliances such as refrigerator, microwave and coffee machine.

· Clean entry doors, glass partitions, and interior office windows.

Shop Bathroom & Facility Cleaning

· Thoroughly clean, disinfect, and sanitize all shop restrooms (toilets, urinals, sinks, mirrors, floors, and partitions).

· Restock all essential paper products, hand soaps, sanitizers, and restroom supplies daily.

· Sweep and mop shop restroom floors using appropriate industrial cleaning solutions.

· Empty trash receptacles in the shop bathroom and common areas.

Inventory & General Duties

· Monitor cleaning supplies and janitorial inventory, notifying management when reorders are needed.

· Maintain a clean, organized, and safe custodial supply closet.

· Ensure proper dilution, storage, and handling of cleaning chemicals.

· Report any facility damages, plumbing leaks, maintenance needs, or safety hazards to leadership promptly.

Other Duties as Assigned

Qualifications

• Job Expectations & Experience

· Experience: Prior commercial, office, or industrial custodial experience is preferred, but not required.

· Reliability: Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and ability to work independently with minimal supervision during the scheduled shift.

· Languages & Communication: Bilingual in English and Spanish required.

· Focus & Attention to Detail: Ability to maintain concentration on routine tasks to ensure cleanliness, sanitation standards, and hygiene protocols are consistently met.

· Task Organization & Time Management: Ability to manage time effectively, prioritize daily cleaning routes between the office and shop area, and complete assigned duties independently within shift hours.

· Comprehension & Safety Awareness: Ability to read, understand, and follow verbal and written instructions, guidelines, product labels, and chemical handling procedures.

· Problem-Solving & Communication: Ability to recognize cleaning needs, facility issues, or safety hazards and report or address them promptly to management.

Physical Demands

· Physical Effort & Mobility: Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach, push, pull, and perform repetitive cleaning motions throughout the shift.

· Lifting Requirements: Ability to safely lift, carry, and maneuver items weighing up to 35–50 lbs (including but not limited to trash bags, full mop buckets, and supply boxes).

Work Environment & Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

· Work Environment: Duties are performed in both a climate-controlled administrative office and an industrial shop environment. The employee may be exposed to dust, noise, industrial odors, and cleaning chemicals.

· Required PPE: Must adhere to facility safety guidelines and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) if entering designated shop area.

· Travel Percentage: 0% (Fully on-site position).
