Specimen Accessioner

The Specimen Accessioner reports to the Accessioning Supervisor and supports high-volume accessioning of routine clinical, pathology, molecular, and mixed specimen types. This role ensures accurate specimen intake, verification, identification, labeling, processing, and tracking across laboratory information systems, electronic medical records, barcode tracking, and multiple laboratory platforms.

Night Shit 11 pm - 7am

Responsibilities

• Receive and accession routine clinical, pathology, molecular, and mixed specimen types.
• Verify orders and confirm accurate patient identification.
• Label specimens according to laboratory requirements.
• Process specimens for downstream laboratory testing.
• Enter and maintain accurate information in the LIS and electronic medical record.
• Use barcode tracking and multiple laboratory platforms to monitor specimen workflows.
• Perform quality control checks throughout the accessioning process.

Preferred Qualifications

• One or more years of experience in specimen accessioning.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Knowledge of specimen handling and medical terminology.
• Experience with data entry and HIPAA compliance.
• Strong attention to detail.
