• Option 1: Monday–Thursday, 12:00 PM–5:30 PM; Friday, 11:00 AM–6:30 PM
• Option 2: Monday–Thursday, 11:00 AM–4:30 PM; Friday, 11:00 AM–5:30 PM

Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented Specimen Processing Technician to support daily laboratory operations by receiving, reviewing, processing, organizing, and storing specimens for analysis. This role involves preparing samples for confirmation testing, maintaining specimen storage, reviewing chain-of-custody documentation, and following established procedures for specimen handling and disposal.

The ideal candidate is dependable, organized, comfortable with repetitive tasks, and able to follow detailed instructions. Attention to detail and the ability to maintain the confidentiality of donor information are essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Receive and open specimens delivered to the laboratory for analysis.
• Review specimens and accompanying chain-of-custody forms to determine and document specimen acceptability.
• Remove presumptive-positive specimens for additional processing.
• Prepare aliquots for confirmation testing and arrange aliquots in the required order.
• Store positive specimens in designated refrigerator and freezer areas according to established procedures.
• Retrieve positive specimens from freezer storage when re-aliquoting is required.
• Destroy specimens when necessary, following applicable laboratory procedures.
• Clean and maintain the work area daily to support an organized laboratory environment.
• Follow all security procedures to protect the confidentiality of donor information.
• Comply with company policies and established specimen-handling procedures.

• Ability to follow written instructions and established procedures.
• Strong attention to detail when handling specimens and reviewing documentation.
• Basic organizational skills and ability to keep samples arranged accurately.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality when working with sensitive donor information.
• Dependability and commitment to following company policies and laboratory procedures.
• Ability to work independently while completing routine, repetitive tasks.
• Laboratory or specimen-processing experience is beneficial, but no specific experience requirement was provided.

Work Environment

This position is based in a laboratory setting and involves handling, organizing, and storing specimens, including refrigerated and frozen samples. Employees must maintain a clean work area and follow all applicable specimen-handling, security, and confidentiality procedures.
