What is this person?
The General IC5 is the senior all-around critical facilities expert for the data center. Unlike the Electrical IC5 or Mechanical IC5, they aren't limited to one specialty. They should have deep expertise in at least one area, but also understand how power, cooling, mechanical equipment, controls, and other infrastructure work together.
They’re brought in for complex problems, outages/incidents, root-cause analysis, major maintenance, upgrades, expansions, and commissioning.
This is NOT a general maintenance technician. You want someone with extensive mission-critical facilities experience who understands the bigger picture and can lead technical troubleshooting across multiple systems.
