Job Description
Job Title: Pathologist Assistant
Location: New York, NY 10065
Contract: 8 weeks with strong possibility of extension
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM
Pay range: $80-$90/hr. (local) $3200-$3800/week (travel)
Key Responsibilities:
Perform gross examination and dissection of small biopsies and large or complex surgical specimens.
Describe the macroscopic features of anatomical specimens.
Prepare tissue specimens for histological processing.
Handle specimen receipt, labeling, accessioning, and fixation.
Section surgical pathology specimens.
Assist and train pathology residents in gross room techniques.
Perform gross and microscopic photography.
Review patient clinical information, including scans, X-rays, and laboratory results.
Requirements:
Active New York State Pathologist Assistant license — must be submitted with the application.
Bachelor’s degree or higher from a qualifying Pathologist Assistant program, as specified in the job requirements.
Related pathology experience required
Experience with specimen dissection, tissue preparation, and surgical pathology procedures.
Epic experience preferred.
ASCP certification and Fellowship in the American Association of Pathologists’ Assistants preferred.
