Job Description
Schedule: Mon-Thurs 7am-5:30pm or Tues-Friday 7am-5:30pm
Setting: Corrections
Required Cert: Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) through the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification (NCTRC) or the California Board of Recreation and Park Certification (CBRPC).
Length: 26 Weeks
Program Development: Design and run individual and group therapeutic recreation activities (such as fitness, arts, writing groups, and life-skills workshops) tailored to patient treatment plans.
Behavioral Monitoring & Documentation: Observe patient behavior, track treatment outcomes, monitor for crisis indicators (such as suicidal or homicidal ideation), and maintain clinical chart notes.
Safety & Order: Supervise patient conduct during activities, maintain institutional safety protocols, and coordinate patient movement and support services with custody staff.
