We are looking for a dependable Office Assistant to support daily test center operations in Asheville, North Carolina. This Long-term Contract opportunity is ideal for someone who is comfortable in a structured, customer-facing environment and can balance administrative support with close attention to security procedures. The role involves assisting candidates throughout the testing process, maintaining an organized and detail-focused setting, and responding quickly to issues as they arise. Candidates who are flexible, detail-oriented, and confident working in a fast-paced setting will be well suited for this position.
Responsibilities:
• Welcome test takers upon arrival, confirm their identity, and guide them through the check-in process.
• Carry out required security procedures, including the use of screening tools, to protect the integrity of the testing environment.
• Monitor candidates during exams through routine walkthroughs and observation to ensure compliance with testing rules.
• Provide basic support for testing equipment and help address minor technical issues experienced by candidates.
• Respond promptly to candidate concerns, document incidents clearly, and escalate matters when needed.
• Maintain secure handling of exam materials and uphold testing center standards at all times.
• Create a fair, calm, and consistent experience for each candidate from arrival through completion of the exam.
• Record irregular activity or policy exceptions accurately and report concerns that fall outside established guidelines.
• Complete fingerprint scanning and digital recordkeeping when required for candidate identification.
• Assist with general office and site tasks during slower testing periods, including clerical support and preparation of materials or equipment.• High school diploma or equivalent is required; additional college coursework is a plus.
• At least one year of in-person customer service experience in settings such as retail, hospitality, food service, or similar environments is required.
• Ability to communicate professionally with candidates and team members, both verbally and in writing.
• Comfortable working in a busy, high-volume environment where accuracy and urgency are both important.
• Proficiency with Windows-based computer systems and common office applications, including Microsoft Office, Outlook, and web browsers.
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds, bend or stoop as needed, and move throughout the testing area regularly during the workday.
• Capable of remaining seated or standing for extended periods while supervising exams and observing activity on computer and camera screens.
• Scheduling flexibility is required, including availability for operations that may run Monday through Saturday.
