Job Description

Sonographer / Ultrasound Technician (Echo / Vascular) – Bullhead City, AZ

Echocardiograms in one room and vascular studies in the next, Monday through Friday, days only, no hospital call rotation — if that is the sonography work you have been trying to find, this outpatient opening in Bullhead City is worth your time.

Overview & Highlights:

  • Location: Bullhead City, AZ — on the Colorado River in Mohave County, directly across the water from Laughlin, Nevada, with Lake Havasu City, Kingman, and Las Vegas all an easy drive away
  • Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
  • Compensation: $40–$50 per hour, based on experience
  • Benefits: Health, dental, and vision insurance; 401(k) retirement plan; paid time off, sick time, and paid holidays
  • Work Setting: Outpatient primary care clinic
  • On-Site Status: On-site in Bullhead City, AZ
  • Position Type: Full-time, direct-hire employee position — one opening

Location & Logistics:

  • Work Environment: A clinic-based diagnostic imaging role — echocardiography and vascular ultrasound for an outpatient primary care patient population
  • Department or Team: Physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and clinical support staff; every study you complete routes back to the provider who ordered it
  • Patient-Facing Responsibilities: Nearly continuous — you are at the bedside for almost every hour of the day, preparing, positioning, scanning, and reassuring
  • Systems / EMR: Procedures, images, and results are charted in the practice's EMR; the specific platform is reviewed during the interview process
  • Travel: Not specified for this position; reviewed during the interview process
  • Reporting Structure: Reviewed during the interview process

About the Opportunity / A Day in the Life:

We are hiring an experienced echo and vascular technologist for our outpatient clinic in Bullhead City. The work is diagnostic imaging, start to finish: echocardiograms and vascular ultrasound examinations ordered by the providers who already know these patients and manage their care week to week.

A typical day is a scheduled list rather than a queue of surprises. You bring each patient back, walk them through what the study involves, get them positioned and comfortable, and acquire the views the interpreting provider needs — complete, clean, and on protocol. Between studies you chart what you found, keep the equipment calibrated and ready, and make sure anything that looks urgent reaches a provider straight away instead of waiting for the end of the list.

Because the setting is an outpatient clinic rather than a hospital department, the pace is steady and the hours are fixed. The variety comes from the imaging itself — cardiac structure and function in one appointment, an arterial or venous study in the next — and from a patient population you will start to recognize on sight.

Plenty of people in the building care about study quality. You are the one who owns it, and that ownership is the whole point of the position.

Why This Role Stands Out:

  • Fixed weekday hours — 8:00 to 5:00, Monday through Friday, with no hospital call and no weekend rotation
  • A genuinely split cardiac and vascular caseload, so neither half of your skill set goes rusty
  • Scheduled outpatient imaging, which means a predictable day and far fewer interruptions than a hospital imaging suite
  • Your results go directly to the providers managing these patients, so you see what your imaging changes
  • A defined scope — you are the imaging specialist for the site, not a float covering five modalities
  • Mentorship, continued professional growth, and a team that bothers to mark the wins

What We're Looking For:

  • A sonographer with at least a year of professional experience behind them
  • At least ten months of that experience spent on cardiac and/or vascular ultrasound examinations
  • Real competence in both echocardiography and vascular imaging — this position scans both, every week
  • A solid grounding in cardiac and vascular anatomy, physiology, and pathology
  • Someone patients settle down around: plain explanations, unhurried positioning, and respect for comfort and privacy
  • Dependable and detail-driven, with the discipline to follow protocol on the last study of the day as closely as the first

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Perform diagnostic echocardiography and vascular ultrasound examinations according to established clinical protocols
  • Prepare patients for their examinations, explain each procedure, and keep them comfortable and safe throughout the study
  • Obtain high-quality diagnostic images of cardiac and vascular structures
  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot ultrasound equipment in line with safety and performance standards
  • Review imaging studies and document findings accurately for provider interpretation
  • Record procedures, images, and results promptly and accurately in the EMR
  • Hold image quality steady by working to established quality-control protocols
  • Recognize abnormal findings and make sure they are documented and communicated appropriately
  • Keep accurate patient and procedural records
  • Stay current with advances in echocardiography, vascular ultrasound, and diagnostic imaging technology
  • Follow all applicable patient safety, infection control, privacy, and regulatory standards
  • Work closely with physicians, nurse practitioners and physician assistants, clinical staff, and the wider care team

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of one year of professional experience as a sonographer
  • At least ten months of clinical experience performing cardiac and/or vascular ultrasound examinations
  • Proficiency in echocardiography and vascular ultrasound imaging
  • State licensure and/or professional certification as required for the role — RDMS or an equivalent sonography credential
  • Strong knowledge of cardiac and vascular anatomy, physiology, and pathology
  • Ability to operate and troubleshoot diagnostic ultrasound equipment
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality diagnostic images
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and time-management skills
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary clinical team
  • Availability for an on-site, Monday–Friday daytime schedule in Bullhead City, AZ

This Role Is Likely a Fit If You…

  • Want weekday daytime hours you can build a life around
  • Like scanning both hearts and vessels and have no wish to give either one up
  • Take real pride in image quality and would rather repeat a view than hand over a soft one
  • Enjoy being the person a clinic relies on for its imaging
  • Prefer a steady outpatient rhythm to hospital-style unpredictability
  • Are happy working on the Arizona side of the river, within reach of both the lake and the city

This Role May Not Be a Fit If You…

  • Are looking for inpatient or high-acuity hospital imaging work
  • Have under a year of professional sonography experience, or under ten months of it on cardiac and/or vascular studies
  • Scan strong general abdominal or OB studies but have little echocardiography or vascular imaging behind you
  • Do not hold — or cannot obtain — the licensure and certification the role requires
  • Want nights, weekends, or per-diem flexibility rather than a fixed weekday schedule
  • Expect somebody else to handle equipment troubleshooting and quality control
  • Are not able to work on-site in Bullhead City, AZ

Why Join Us:

We are a community-focused outpatient practice, and prevention is what we are actually in business to do: find things early, manage them properly, and keep people out of the hospital. Cardiovascular imaging sits at the heart of that, which is why this position carries more weight here than the title suggests.

You would join a collaborative clinical team that supports its people, invests in mentorship, and keeps the schedule humane. If you are ready to bring your echocardiography and vascular imaging expertise to a patient-focused outpatient setting in Bullhead City, AZ, we would like to hear from you. Please apply with your most current resume or CV — cover letters and professional references are welcome but not required.
