Description
Why Roush Honda
Roush Honda is a 100% employee-owned, top-rated automotive dealership. Our employees have a stake in the company’s success, and every role contributes to the customer experience. We offer strong benefits, opportunities to grow within the dealership, community involvement, and a schedule that keeps us closed on Sundays. At Roush Honda, You Own It!
The Role
The Service Porter helps keep the service drive and shop moving efficiently by supporting service advisors and managers, caring for customer vehicles, and maintaining clean, organized work areas. This is an active, on-your-feet position. Porters regularly walk more than 10,000 steps in a shift and work both indoors and outdoors, including during inclement weather.
You will greet customers, move vehicles safely throughout the property, perform basic vehicle checks and minor service tasks, wash vehicles, support rental and inventory organization, and assist with cleaning projects. The work can be physical and fast-paced, but it is also a strong entry point for someone interested in building a career in automotive service.
What You’ll Do
- Welcome customers promptly and professionally when they arrive in the service drive.
- Place protective floor and seat coverings in customer vehicles.
- Communicate with service teammates and safely valet vehicles to designated parking areas.
- Perform tire-pressure checks and battery tests; check and fill fluids as needed; and replace windshield-wiper inserts and light bulbs.
- Wash customer vehicles and company-owned vehicles.
- Keep the service drive and service shop clean, safe, and organized, including routine cleaning and periodic deep-clean projects with the maintenance team.
- Pick up and drop off customer vehicles as needed.
- Purchase or pick up parts from local dealerships as assigned.
- Transfer inventory and help organize company-owned rental vehicles.
- Assist with other service-department support tasks as business needs change.
What the Job Is Really Like
- You should expect to walk more than 10,000 steps during a typical shift.
- You will spend extended periods standing, walking, driving, bending, reaching, and moving in and around vehicles.
- You will work outside in changing weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and snow.
- You will frequently enter and exit vehicles and must remain alert around moving vehicles and busy shop areas.
- The pace may increase during busy service-drive periods, and priorities can change throughout the shift.
Schedule
Monday through Thursday, 6:00am – 2:00pm OR 2:00 pm – 10:00 pm, plus a rotating Friday or Saturday shift from 8:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m. The dealership is closed on Sundays.
What We’re Looking For
- Regular and reliable attendance.
- Friendly, professional communication and a customer-first approach.
- Ability to follow directions, work as part of a team, and adjust as priorities change.
- Ability to safely perform the physical duties of the position, including driving, standing for extended periods, frequent walking, and working outdoors in inclement weather.
- A valid driver’s license with fewer than four points and no history of reckless driving; candidates age 18 or older are preferred.
- Willingness to complete a background check and drug screening.
