Dietary Aide – Part-Time

Schedule: Part-Time | Weekends Required

Valley Vista for Nursing and Rehabilitation is seeking a dependable Dietary Aide to join our skilled nursing facility in Newton, IA.

This dual-role position assists with meal preparation, cooking, food service, and maintaining a clean, safe kitchen environment. You will help ensure residents receive nutritious, high-quality meals while following established dietary policies and food safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook meals according to planned menus and portion control guidelines

• Coordinate food preparation with scheduled meal service

• Follow standardized recipes and therapeutic diet orders

• Prepare food for regular, modified, and special diets

• Safely operate kitchen equipment and appliances

• Follow menu requirements, portion sizes, and presentation standards

• Maintain food safety, sanitation, and infection prevention standards

• Clean and maintain kitchen equipment, utensils, appliances, and work areas

• Assist with serving meals in a timely and courteous manner

• Help with dishwashing, kitchen cleanup, and other dietary duties as needed

• Work collaboratively with the dietary team to provide quality service to residents

Qualifications

• One year of dining services experience in a hospital, skilled nursing facility, or healthcare setting preferred

• Culinary school training preferred

• Current ServSafe Certification required

• High school diploma or GED preferred

• Must be at least 18 years of age

• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment

• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
