Heavy Equipment Operator

We are seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Operator III to join a landfill operation in Lost Hills, CA. This position is ideal for an experienced operator with strong dozer and GPS/grade-control experience who is comfortable working in an outdoor, safety-focused environment.

What You’ll Do

• Safely operate heavy equipment including dozers, excavators, front-end loaders, scrapers, and other heavy machinery
• Utilize GPS/grade-control systems while operating equipment
• Perform daily equipment safety and maintenance inspections
• Identify and report equipment maintenance or repair needs
• Assist with routine equipment maintenance
• Maintain equipment cleanliness and ensure equipment is properly secured
• Follow all company and workplace safety procedures
• Maintain accurate daily records and documentation
• Work independently while meeting daily operational schedules and production needs
• Assist with other duties as assigned

What We’re Looking For

• 5+ years of heavy equipment operating experience required
• Strong dozer operating experience required
• GPS/grade-control experience highly preferred
• Experience operating front-end loaders, excavators, scrapers, and similar heavy equipment
• Previous landfill, construction, mining, agriculture, or similar heavy industrial experience preferred
• Strong knowledge of equipment and workplace safety
• Previous lead or supervisory experience preferred
• Ability to perform daily inspections and recognize equipment maintenance needs
• Ability to read, write, and maintain daily operational records
• Strong communication, decision-making, and time-management skills
• Dependable and able to work independently

Physical & Work Environment Requirements

• Must be comfortable working outdoors year-round, including in extreme heat and cold
• Ability to climb on and around heavy equipment
• Ability to sit for extended periods while operating equipment
• Ability to lift, carry, push, and/or pull approximately 25–50 lbs.
• Ability to walk and stand for extended periods
• Ability to climb stairs and safely maneuver around an active landfill environment
