Job Title: Autonomous Vehicle Shift Lead
Location: Sunnyvale, CA (Onsite)
Duration: 12+ months
Description:
We are looking for a Validation Shift Lead to act as the primary operational and technical anchor for field collection shifts. This individual will oversee start-of-shift dispatch, verify inspection compliance, provide real-time field troubleshooting, and report shift metrics and blockers directly to the Team Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
● Shift Dispatch & Coordination: Direct start-of-shift check-ins, assign pre-planned routes/schedules to Validation Specialists, monitor active field collection progress, and manage real-time schedule adjustments.
● Inspection Audits: Review, verify, and sign off on all pre- and post-trip vehicle and onboard hardware inspections (Cameras, LiDAR, secondary sensors) to ensure equipment readiness and protocol compliance.
● Technical Triage & Support: Act as the first line of contact for mid-shift technical escalations; troubleshoot hardware, software, or sensor issues in the field (power-cycling, cable reseating, running basic diagnostic scripts) to keep teams operational.
● Issue Tracking & Reporting: Document hardware errors, system anomalies, lost collection time, and route blockers in tracking platforms (e.g., Jira/Zendesk); deliver structured end-of-shift debriefs directly to the Program Manager.
● Protocol Guidance: Serve as a subject matter expert for Validation Specialists, answering protocol questions, guiding proper data logging procedures, and escalating non-compliance or safety issues to management.
Eligibility Criteria & Qualifications:
● Technical & Coordination Experience: 2+ years in technical support, fleet coordination, or field operations with experience acting as a lead or senior point-of-contact.
● Driving Record: Valid U.S. Driver's License (3+ years) with a clean driving history.
● Technical Proficiency: Strong comfort troubleshooting hardware/software under operational constraints; basic familiarity with Linux command-line (navigating directories, executing basic commands) is highly preferred.
● Process Discipline: High attention to detail regarding checklist verification, safety protocols, and clear documentation.
● Communication & Tools: Strong written communication skills for technical issue logging and manager debriefs; proficiency with Google Workspace and ticketing systems.
● Physical Requirements & Availability: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and flexibility to work variable shift schedules (mornings, evenings, nights, weekends).
