This position requires a self-directed professional capable of diagnosing complex mechanical systems, running projects from mobilization through closeout, developing and mentoring field staff, and serving as a primary on-site point of contact for Government representatives and facility personnel.
This role is hands-on, field-driven, and leadership-focused. The position may evolve, and additional tasks may be assigned as necessary. *
Key Responsibilities:
Service Operations Management:
- Manage service calls, preventive maintenance, and emergency response for HVAC, steam, condensate, plumbing, and related mechanical systems.

- Dispatch and schedule service technicians to balance workload and response times.
- Track service history, recurring deficiencies, and equipment condition.
- Coordinate parts, materials, and equipment procurement for service work.
Field Project Management:
- Manage assigned task orders from mobilization through closeout in coordination with the Program Manager.
- Lead site walks, pre-construction meetings, and field coordination with Government POCs and facility staff.
- Maintain field schedules and report progress, delays, and risks to the Program Manager.
- Identify and document changed or differing site conditions early to support change orders and REAs.
- Review submittals, shop drawings, and equipment selections for technical accuracy.
Estimating & Scope Development:
- Support pre-award site visits and develop technical scopes, labor hours, and material take-offs for proposals.
- Review subcontractor and vendor quotes for completeness and scope gaps.
Supervision & Training:
- Directly supervise service technicians, apprentices, and trainees, including work assignments and performance feedback.
- Train and mentor apprentices and trainees on technical skills, safety, and CBG field procedures.
- Coach developing field leads as they take on project responsibility.
- Coordinate with foremen on crew assignments and labor needs across active projects.
- Recommend hiring, qualification, and certification requirements for service roles.
Safety, Quality & Compliance:
- Enforce CBG safety program requirements, OSHA standards, and EM 385-1-1 where applicable.
- Lead toolbox talks and review Activity Hazard Analyses with crews before work begins.
- Support the Quality Control program, including inspections, testing, and deficiency tracking.
- Ensure compliance with base access, escort, and security requirements at federal installations.
Coordination & Communication:
- Work closely with Project Managers and Program Managers to align field execution with project schedules and budgets.
- Coordinate daily with subcontractors and verify work is complete and acceptable before payment approval.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with Government representatives and facility staff.
- Prepare or review daily reports, inspection records, photos, as-built markups, and closeout documentation.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 8+ years of experience in commercial or federal mechanical service and construction.
- Minimum 3+ years supervising field crews or managing projects.
- Strong working knowledge of HVAC, hydronic, and steam systems and controls fundamentals.
- Experience working on federal facility projects (NAVFAC, USACE, GSA preferred).
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and submittals.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Ability to pass background checks and obtain base access credentials.
Required Certifications:
