Sawmill Manager

The Sawmill Manager oversees hardwood lumber production and the full mill workforce, reporting to the General Manager. This role leads production and maintenance teams while prioritizing safety and compliance, product quality and customer requirements, throughput and productivity, and effective maintenance troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Direct day-to-day hardwood lumber mill operations.
• Develop and manage production plans to meet throughput and productivity goals.
• Lead production and maintenance teams and oversee the full mill workforce.
• Enforce safety, regulatory, and occupational compliance requirements.
• Maintain product quality and ensure alignment with customer requirements.
• Coordinate equipment maintenance, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, welding, and fabrication.
• Manage inventory and support efficient material flow.
• Optimize processes and prepare performance and operational reports.

Required Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in sawmill operations management.

Preferred Qualifications

• OSHA safety certification.
• Forklift operator certification.
• Experience with sawmill operations and production planning.
• Knowledge of wood grading.
• Experience with preventive maintenance.
• Knowledge of occupational safety practices.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Experience with operational reporting.
• Hardwood Exp.
