Principal Investigator

Job Description

• The Principal Investigator is a full-time, on-site role based in Fairmont, WV.

• This position leads environmental projects from planning through completion, including designing study methodologies, overseeing field investigations, and ensuring data quality and integrity.

• The Principal Investigator prepares technical reports, permit applications, and supporting documentation, and provides expert guidance to clients on regulatory requirements and natural resource management.

• Daily responsibilities include coordinating project teams, managing timelines and budgets, communicating with clients and regulators, and mentoring staff in best practices.

• The role also involves maintaining up-to-date knowledge of applicable environmental laws and regulations and contributing to the continuous improvement of internal procedures and standards.

Qualifications

• Experience designing and leading archaeological studies, managing project scopes, schedules, and budgets, and delivering high-quality technical work products.

• Proficiency in technical and scientific writing, including preparation of reports, permit applications, and regulatory documentation, with attention to detail and accuracy.

• Knowledge of federal and state environmental regulations, permitting processes, and compliance requirements relevant to historical preservation.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with clients, agencies, and multidisciplinary teams, and for mentoring junior staff.

• Ability to work on-site in Fairmont, WV, conduct fieldwork as needed, and adapt to varying project demands and environments.

• Master's degree.

• Professional certifications or licenses in relevant disciplines (e.g., Principal Investigator).
