CHIEF OFFICER - ASD TUG

The Chief Officer on an ASD Tug plays a pivotal role in the safe and efficient operation of the vessel, acting as the second-in-command to the Master. This position requires a highly skilled and experienced mariner capable of handling complex towing, escort, and harbor assist operations. The Chief Officer is responsible for navigational duties, vessel maintenance, crew supervision, and ensuring compliance with all international and local maritime regulations. This role demands strong leadership, exceptional ship handling abilities, and a proactive approach to safety and operational excellence.

• Assist the Master in all aspects of vessel operation, navigation, and maneuvering, especially during critical towing and berthing operations.
• Stand navigational watches as required, ensuring safe passage and adherence to international collision regulations.
• Supervise and participate in the maintenance and upkeep of the vessel, including deck machinery, safety equipment, and general vessel cleanliness.
• Conduct regular safety drills and training for the crew, ensuring all personnel are proficient in emergency procedures (firefighting, abandon ship, medical emergencies).
• Manage cargo operations, including the proper securing and release of tow lines and associated equipment.
• Ensure compliance with the company's Safety Management System (SMS), ISM Code, SOLAS, MARPOL, and other relevant maritime legislation.
• Oversee the loading, storage, and discharge of stores and provisions.
• Maintain accurate records and logs, including official logbook, oil record book, and garbage record book.
• Conduct pre-arrival and pre-departure checks, ensuring the vessel is ready for operations.
• Lead and motivate the deck crew, fostering a positive and safety-conscious working environment.
• Perform administrative duties as delegated by the Master.
