Medical Collections Clerk

A healthcare organization in Fort Myers is seeking an experienced Medical Collections Clerk to join their team. This position is responsible for managing insurance collections, resolving claim issues, submitting appeals, and ensuring accurate coding and billing information to maximize reimbursements.

Job Responsibilities

• Follow up on outstanding insurance claims and unpaid balances
• Research and resolve denied, rejected, and underpaid claims
• Prepare and submit insurance appeals
• Review and correct claim errors as needed
• Edit and correct medical coding when necessary to support claim processing
• Communicate with insurance carriers regarding claim status and reimbursement issues
• Maintain accurate account notes and collection records
• Utilize Intergy software to manage claims, accounts, and follow-up activity

Qualifications

• Previous experience in medical collections, medical billing, or healthcare revenue cycle management required
• Knowledge of insurance claims, appeals, and denial resolution
• Experience reviewing and correcting medical coding preferred
• Proficiency with Intergy software strongly preferred
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
